The Blue Line: Workshop with Tarren Johnson
The Blue Line with Tarren Johnson
Join us for The Blue Line, a two-day workshop led by Tarren Johnson. This workshop focuses on compositional strategies that blend creative writing and movement for performance.
Participants will start each day with a guided warm-up, preparing the body. The workshop includes exercises that integrate a range of techniques with physical movement, allowing participants to develop their own short performance pieces.
On the second day, participants will have the opportunity to present their work in a final showing.
*No experience needed for participation
JUST DANCE CLASS — PARTY!
7-week series lead by Dominic Giambra
Monday nights 7:30 — 9:30pm
Drop-in, ALL-LEVELS (no training needed)
Donation-based / PWYC.
4/15 —— Monday 5/27
Just Dance is a class for all people who find joy in moving their bodies. This class requires no previous experience or training, but does require an open mind and a smile! In each session we will begin with body-centering / stretching / warm up exercises. We will explore methods of connecting our mind to our movement, and end each class with a movement-based prompt, culminating in an open dance partay!!! Concepts for exercises will be pulled from numerous dance genres, improv, musical theater, and yoga. The goal of this class is to find pleasure in moving our bodies, and grow more comfortable exploring the vast potential in movement expression… Join us!!
Dominic Giambra is a dancer and yoga teacher who grew up in Buffalo NY, and is happy to now be back, dancing and teaching in that community.
Dance and movement have been central to Dominic’s self expression since he was young, performing in high school musicals and choirs. He now trains, and teaches musical theater at Configuration School of Ballet.
Dominic has worked throughout the WNY community as a performer and choreographer, and recently began teaching yoga after completing a 200 hour YTT with Heal Buffalo. He is one of the five organizers of MOVI, a dance organization used to highlight talent in the WNY dance community. Dominic is excited to use his expertise to formulate Just Dance class, and share the benefits of movement and dance with all bodies, without the prerequisite or stress of a classical structure.
This project is supported by @chashama and The Generator Fund, a grant for artists administered by The Buffalo Institute for Contemporary Art @bica.buffalo and funded by the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts.
